As the Medical Director of Cardiology at Medical Center Hospital (MCH), it is with immense pride and gratitude that I share a momentous achievement in our ongoing commitment to cardiovascular excellence. MCH has once again been recognized by the American College of Cardiology (ACC), earning both the Cardiac Cath Lab Accreditation with PCI reaccreditation and designation as an ACC HeartCare Center—a dual honor that reflects the highest standards in heart care, in addition to our ACC Chest pain accreditation as well.
This reaccreditation is not merely a renewal of status—it is a reaffirmation of the exceptional skill, dedication, and teamwork demonstrated by our cardiovascular service line. From our interventional cardiologists and nurses to our radiology technologists and support staff, every member of our team has contributed to this success through tireless effort and a shared vision of improving patient outcomes in the Permian Basin. Having also the only service in the Permian Basin with a structural heart program and electrophysiology to provide a full portfolio of quality cardiovascular care to our community.
The ACC’s rigorous evaluation process includes a comprehensive gap analysis, onsite review, and continuous quality monitoring. It assesses everything from diagnostic accuracy and procedural safety to post-procedure care and patient education. MCH is proud to be the only accredited Cath Lab within a 300-mile radius, a distinction that underscores our role as a regional leader in cardiac care.
Even more significant is our new designation as an ACC HeartCare Center, which recognizes hospitals that demonstrate a commitment to best practices in a comprehensive, team-based approach to cardiovascular care. This designation reflects our integration of evidence-based practices, patient-centered care, and a culture of continuous improvement achieved in less than 100 hospitals nationwide and with MCH, now - only eight in Texas.
These achievements are more than accolades—they are a testament to our mission to provide world-class cardiac care close to home. They also reflect our unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of our community, ensuring that patients in Odessa and the surrounding region have access to the highest level of cardiovascular treatment.
