November is American Diabetes Month

Medical Center Hospital System is committed to the people who make West Texas their home. We want you to live your longest, healthiest life.

November is American Diabetes Month, and MCHS urges you to get checked for diabetes if you’ve developed any of these symptoms:

  •  Frequent Urination
  • Excessive Thirst
  • Unexplained Weight Loss
  • Extreme Fatigue
  • Blurred Vision
  • Slow-Healing Sores or Cuts
  • Increased Hunger
  • Tingling or Numbness
  • Frequent Infections
  • Dry Skin or Itchy Skin

These symptoms can develop gradually and may be easy to overlook. Testing helps doctors find diabetes sooner, so they can work with their patients to manage the disease and prevent additional health problems such as heart disease, kidney failure, and vision loss.

If you have a family history of diabetes or developed gestational diabetes during pregnancy, you should also get checked!
