Adult and College Volunteer Programs

Application Process for Adult and College Volunteers

We are honored you are interested in joining us in our mission to improve the health of the people in the communities we serve. As a values-based organization, we choose individuals with a strong work ethic who possess personal values of integrity, customer-centered, accountability, respect and excellence. Your time is a valuable contribution to your community.

Volunteer applicants must meet basic requirements, including a background check and MCH health and immunization standards. All new volunteers must obtain a TB test from our employee health clinic and attend an orientation class prior to beginning volunteer services. All applicant skills, physical and mental abilities, and availability are matched to placement requirement levels. All applications are kept confidential.

To be considered for a volunteer position at MCH, please complete our online application. Once your volunteer application is submitted, you will receive confirmation and information about the next steps in the application process.

Volunteer Categories

Adult/Community

Applications are accepted year round. This is our most dedicated group of volunteers comprised of all ages. They normally serve 2-3 four hour shifts per month. Many community members who are touched by their own health care experience, or that of someone they love, are compelled to give back through volunteering.

College Students

Applications are accepted all year long, but new college students will only be onboarded in September, February and May of each year. Once an active volunteer, you will be able to renew yearly if in good standing with the program. This volunteer group must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate looking to enhance their college experience. Local college students must consider the time commitment to be part of this program and agree to a minimum of 12 hours of service per month with the exception of December or summer if not staying in Odessa. Evening and weekend assignments are available to meet the hour requirements. Volunteers who do not meet this requirement will not gain the full benefit of this program and may lose their active status to volunteer.

Please note--shadowing is not considered volunteering. Shadowing must be arranged through the Medical Staff Department (432-640-1116) after you secure the physician you would like to observe.
