Community Education Opportunities

The below classes are offered to our health system employees and community for free. Schedule a presentation or a one-on-one consultation by trained personnel.

The Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (C.R.A.S.E.) course, designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy developed by ALERRT, provides strategies, guidance, and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event. Civilians who find themselves embroiled in such events must be prepared to take immediate action to save their own lives before law enforcement arrives. Without effective training many victims can be seriously injured or killed.

Recommended for ages 16 and older.

Empower and instill confidence to survive an active shooter event.

Presented by the Ector County Hospital Police Department.

Stop the Bleed

The Stop the Bleed course prepares you to respond to emergencies where there is massive bleeding from an injury. Massive uncontrolled bleeding from any cause can result in death in 5 to 10 minutes. However, anyone can act as an immediate responder and save lives if they know what to do to stop life-threatening bleeding. The class will go over proper bleeding control techniques, including how to use your hands, dressings, and tourniquets to control life-threatening bleeding.

Recommended for ages 16 and older.

Presented by MCH Trauma Services.

KEY Driver Education Program

The KEY Driver Education Program is designed for young drivers ages 14-24 and their guardians. The program focuses on topics that are common in motor vehicle crashes. There is a behind the scenes tour that allows students to see a trauma center and where you might end up if involved in a motor vehicle crash. Along with interacting with our hospital staff, the students will get to see possible job opportunities. The class is free and provides community service hours.

Presented by MCH Trauma Services.
