Visitation Guidelines

Printer-friendly versionSend to friendPDF version

Medical Center Hospital recognizes the importance of patients having visitors. In order to maintain a healing environment that is safe and secure we recommend the following guidelines.

Visiting hours are between 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. An announcement will be made at 9:30 p.m. in English and Spanish to remind visitors that visiting hours are drawing to a close. An additional announcement will be made at 10:00 p.m. to reinforce this.

In order to provide optimal patient care, there may be occasions when it is necessary to alter these visiting hours. Physicians and/or charge nurses may limit, restrict and/or refuse visitors when it is determined to be necessary for safe patient care, to perform procedures, or to deal with emergencies.

We recommend only 2 visitors per patient at a time.

Extended visitation hours are available for parents/grandparents of infants and children in the NICU, L & D and 7C. (A detailed visitation brochure is available in these units.)

Children accompanied by an adult may visit patients.

Children under 14 years of age are not allowed in the ICU/Surgery waiting area.

Visits by children in the ICU/CCU are to be arranged with the unit charge nurse. (A detailed visitation brochure is available outside these units.)

For any changes or special visitation requests, please refer to the patient's nurse.
