Medical Center Hospital offers Special Procedures such as interventional radiology in its Outpatient Center.  Because diagnostic imaging and interventional techniques can eliminate the need for more expensive exploratory surgery, these procedures help MCH provide the best care while working to keep health care costs low.  Special procedures which focus on vascular blockage which may effect the kidneys, brain, legs or any other part of the body (with the exception of the heart) are performed in the Outpatient Center.

In some cases, a vascular procedure can eliminate the need for surgery altogether. If the patient still requires surgery after the special procedure, it’s usually at a lesser degree of seriousness and risk. There are several techniques used for vascular therapy including thrombolysis, which involves the use of a liquid clot dissolving medicine to dissolve any blockage.
