Nuclear Medicine
|
Medical Center Hospital has been providing nuclear medicine procedures for more than 25 years. These scans are painless procedures which help to diagnose diseases of the thyroid, bone, lung, liver, gall bladder or heart. After ingestion or injection of a radionuclide, the patient is scanned by a special gamma camera which records the radioactivity of specific organs. With the assistance of special computers, the results of the scans are analyzed by a physician. Nuclear medicine procedures post no significant danger to your health and side effects are rare. The technologist performing your exam has completed a rigorous course of education and is nationally certified. Our technologists work closely with the radiologist to assure the most accurate result from your exam. Outpatient nuclear medicine is available during the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. A written physician's order and an appointment are required for a nuclear medicine procedure. Appointments can be scheduled by calling (432) 640-1801. Should you have questions about your specific exam, our technologists are glad to provide you with the information. You may reach the Nuclear Medicine Department at (432) 640-1290. |
