Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

Medical Center Hospital offers a level III neonatal intensive care nursery, commonly called the NICU.    This 18-bed unit is the regional referral center for neonatal consultation and care of high-risk newborns from throughout the Permian Basin.

Our staff of neonatologists, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, respiratory therapists, occupational therapist are prepared to respond to virtually any neonatal emergency. 

High frequency oscillatory ventilation, one of the newest treatments for critically ill newborns, is used with a high success rate at Medical Center Hospital. Visitation is allowed 24 hours a day in the NICU for parents and grandparents who are encouraged to visit as often as possible.

The Children's Miracle Network helps support the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit through the purchase of specialized equipment, staff education and awareness of programs that benefit the children of the Permian Basin.
