REMEMBERING 9-11
By Adele Berggren

As we approach the 5th anniversary of 9-11, let us take a moment from our busy lives to remember and reflect on what it meant for the United States and the World.

Because of 9-11, we went to war with Afghanistan, and rightly so, but 5 years later we still have troops there.

Remember that following the attacks, almost every American home had a flag in their yard?

America was busting with pride and we were determined that the “bad guys” would be made accountable.

Remember how we joined in prayer?  We prayed for the souls that were lost that fateful day.  We prayed for what was to come and we prayed for ourselves.

As time past and the images of the attacks were removed from the television screens, we pushed 9-11 to the back of our minds and returned to our daily routines.

On this anniversary of 9-11, let’s find that pride again.  Next time you are in the Dollar store, buy a flag for your yard.  Let your pride for our nation show it’s colors once again.

Let us come together as Americans and unite once again.  On this day let’s take a minute from our busy schedules and in silence or as a group, remember and honor the many victims that were lost on that September morning.  Let’s remember New York, Washington, DC and Pennsylvania.  Let’s remember our fallen troops, 2,800 plus, heroes that gave all for their country in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Today and everyday, let us continue to pray for our country, our soldiers, and our world leaders.  Our soldiers are fighting a war unlike any other war in our history.  May God’s grace be with them and their families.

We should never forget what America stands for…No, America is not a perfect nation, but even with all it’s faults…it’s the best in the world.

God Bless America.
