Wi-Fi / Wireless Internet Access
for MCH Patients & Visitors

Free Wi-Fi Service Medical Center Hospital is proud to announce that we offer free Wi-Fi / wireless high-speed Internet access for our patients and visitors. MCH’s free Internet connection works with any Wi-Fi (802.11b)* enabled device such as a notebook computer (laptop), Pocket PC (Palm) or web-enabled cell phone. For your convenience, connectivity is available throughout the hospital including patient rooms and visitor waiting areas. We ask that you be courteous to other patients and visitors when using your device and keep the volume muted or use headphones. *Wi-Fi (802.11g) is currently available in some locations in MCH and will be available throughout the hospital in 2006. |

What is a “Hot Spot”? Medical Center Hospital’s Hot Spot allows Internet communication with family, friends and loved ones. Using our Wi-Fi connection and your Internet email account, you can send photos of the newborn and communicate with friends and family. |

What to Expect When You Connect When your device first connects to the MCH wireless connection (SSID: MCH Guest), the device will be directed to a webpage stating that you are connected to the MCH wireless Internet connection. (see photo below)
Click the “OK” button at the bottom of this page to connect. After you are connected, type in the URL of the website you would like to go to. Please Note: Since this is a free service, MCH does not provide technical support for your device or connectivity. |

Protect Yourself!
Anytime you are connected to the Internet, you are prone to security risks. Following the tips below will help you minimize some of the security risks.
Be cautious when filling in
personal information (name, Social Security Number, credit card info, etc.)
on websites. Your identity can be easily stolen over the Internet if the
website does not have built-in security for you. Always check for the
padlock symbol 
at the
bottom of your browser that indicates secure sites.
Do not download files from the
Internet unless you are certain that the files are from a safe source.
Do not open email attachments
from email addresses that you do not know. Even if you do know them, make
sure the attachment is safe before opening it.
Install virus protection software and keep it up to date. Insure that your device has the latest security updates from the vendor (i.e. Microsoft)
Disclaimer
Your use of the Medical Center Hospital wireless Internet connection is at your own risk. As with most public wireless hot spots, the hospital’s wireless connection is not secure. There can be non-trustworthy third parties between the user and anybody with whom the user communicates. Any information being sent or received could potentially be intercepted by another wireless user. Cautious and informed wireless users should not transmit their credit card information, passwords and any other sensitive personal information while using any wireless “hot spot.”
MCH assumes no responsibility, and shall not be liable for any loss of data to, damages to, or viruses that may infect your computer equipment or other property on account of your access to, use of, or browsing in any website, or your downloading of any materials from websites.
Any restriction or monitoring of a minor’s access to the hospital’s wireless network is the sole responsibility of the parent or guardian.
MCH can not guarantee that your hardware will work with the hospital’s wireless connection.
If you have problems accessing the Internet over the Wi-Fi connection, staff cannot assist in making changes to the user’s network settings or perform any troubleshooting on your device. You should refer to owners’ manual for your device or other support services offered by your device manufacturer.
